🏆 Our Success Story
Celebrating excellence, resilience, and achievement at Kuja Special School for the Deaf
Our Success Story
For many years, Kuja Special School for the Deaf has stood as a beacon of hope, resilience, and excellence in special needs education in Kenya. Despite facing numerous challenges, the school has remained steadfast in its mission of providing quality education to learners with hearing impairment and those with multiple disabilities. Through determination, dedicated leadership, committed teachers, supportive parents, and resilient learners, the school has continued to achieve remarkable milestones that have earned it recognition both locally and nationally.
One of the school's greatest achievements has been its consistent outstanding performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) over the years. Kuja Special School for the Deaf has distinguished itself as one of the leading Special Needs Education (SNE) institutions in Kenya, producing excellent academic results that demonstrate that disability is not inability. These achievements are a reflection of the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our learners, and the unwavering support of parents and partners.
Beyond academic excellence, the school takes immense pride in its many successful alumni. Former learners have gone on to pursue secondary education, vocational training, colleges, and universities, while others have established successful careers in education, business, public service, skilled trades, sports, and entrepreneurship. Many have become role models within the Deaf community, inspiring younger learners to believe in their abilities and pursue their dreams with confidence. View Alumni Page →
The school's success extends far beyond examination results. Kuja Special School for the Deaf has nurtured learners who demonstrate strong leadership, discipline, creativity, talent, and resilience. Through co-curricular activities such as sports, drama, music, art, and vocational training, learners continue to develop skills that prepare them for independent living and meaningful participation in society.
Despite infrastructure limitations and other challenges experienced over the years, the school has maintained a peaceful, secure, and learner-friendly environment that promotes effective teaching and learning. The commitment of teachers and support staff has ensured that every learner receives individualized attention, encouragement, and opportunities to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
The school has also benefited from the generosity of numerous partners and well-wishers who have contributed to its development over the years. Support from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, corporate institutions, faith-based organizations, community groups, alumni, and individual donors has enabled the school to improve infrastructure, expand learning opportunities, strengthen learner welfare, and provide essential resources. These partnerships have played a significant role in shaping the school's continued growth and success. View Partners Page →
Our achievements have been built on a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, innovation, and inclusivity. Teachers continuously embrace modern teaching approaches, including the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Kenya Sign Language, individualized learning programmes, and learner-centred methodologies that enable every child to progress according to their abilities.
Today, Kuja Special School for the Deaf continues to be recognized as a centre of excellence in Special Needs Education. The school remains committed to producing confident, responsible, and self-reliant learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to contribute positively to their families, communities, and the nation.
As we celebrate our achievements, we remain focused on the future. We are determined to build on our successes by improving infrastructure, embracing technology, expanding vocational and life skills training, strengthening partnerships, and creating even greater opportunities for every learner entrusted to our care. We firmly believe that with continued support from our stakeholders and development partners, the best chapters of Kuja Special School for the Deaf are still ahead.
Our story is one of perseverance, transformation, and hope. It is a story that proves that when learners are given the right support, dedicated teachers, and an enabling environment, they can overcome barriers, excel academically, and become productive members of society. At Kuja Special School for the Deaf, we do not simply educate learners—we empower lives, nurture dreams, and build a brighter future for generations to come.
At Kuja Special School for the Deaf, we are committed to delivering high-quality, learner-centred academic programmes that equip every learner with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in life. The school implements the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) while providing individualized support to meet the unique needs of learners with hearing impairment and those with multiple disabilities. Instruction is delivered by qualified teachers proficient in Kenya Sign Language (KSL), using interactive, visual, and practical teaching methods that promote active participation and meaningful learning. Through continuous assessment, remedial support, ICT integration, co-curricular activities, and close collaboration with parents and stakeholders, the school maintains high academic standards and has consistently produced outstanding results in national examinations. Our goal is not only to achieve academic excellence but also to nurture confident, independent, and responsible learners who are well prepared for further education, vocational training, employment, and active participation in society.
"Ability is greater than disability. Our learners prove this every single day."
