Teaching at Kuja School has been a transformative journey. Seeing our deaf learners master Mathematics, Agriculture, Nutrition and Science through sign language is incredibly rewarding.

I have been teaching here for 8 years and have seen many students excel in national examinations.

We use visual aids, sign language integration, and interactive methods to make learning engaging and effective for deaf learners.

A special needs child needs multi sensory awakening strategy, an individualised education plan and a suppotrive environment to gain in education plan.

TIMEC. This is a structured proactive mentorship program that supports professional development, helps maintain teaching standards and improve classroom outcomes.

AREAS COVERED INCLUDES: Stress Management, Dress Code, Career Growth, Professional Ethics, Classroom Management, Inclusive Education, Effective Time Management and Better Work Life Balance.

The programme promotes good mental health and effective teaching strategies within the school.

This programme is done while preparing teachers to mentor others with a lot of professionalism and decorum.

For the 16 years I have been at Kuja School, I have witnessed remarkable growth and development among my students in Creative Activities, Language Activities, and Mathematical Activities.

My students have consistently demonstrated commendable effort, creativity, and determination in their learning journey.

Through creative activities, they have expressed their talents, built confidence, and developed important life skills.

In language activities, they have improved their communication, comprehension, and social interaction skills, while mathematical activities have strengthened their problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and practical numeracy skills.

As students in Special Needs Education, these competencies play a vital role in promoting independence, inclusion, and meaningful participation in society.

With continued support from parents, teachers, and the wider community, my students can realize their full potential and make valuable contributions to society while leading productive and fulfilling lives.

As a teacher, I am delighted by the progress my students continue to make across various learning areas, including Language, Mathematical Activities, Kenya Sign Language (KSL), Creative Arts, Environmental Activities, Religion, Hygiene, and Nutrition.

Through Language and KSL, my students are developing effective communication skills that enable them to interact confidently with others.

Mathematical Activities are strengthening their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, while Creative Arts provide opportunities for self-expression and talent development.

Environmental Activities help them appreciate and care for their surroundings, and Religious Education nurtures positive values, moral responsibility, and respect for others.

Additionally, lessons in Hygiene and Nutrition are equipping my students with essential life skills that promote healthy living and personal well-being.

I encourage parents and guardians to continue supporting their children at home as we work together to nurture responsible, confident, and productive members of society.

As a teacher of History and Christian Religious Education (CRE) at Kuja Comprehensive School for the Deaf, I take great pride in nurturing young minds and shaping future generations through knowledge, values, and character development. Through English, learners strengthen their literacy skills; through Creative Arts and Music, they discover and showcase their talents; while Environmental and Psychomotor Activities help them develop practical life skills, physical fitness, and social interaction.
