🐇 Rabbit Farming

Rabbit farming is one of the valuable income-generating and educational projects at Kuja School. The project provides students with practical livestock management skills, including feeding, housing, breeding, health management, and record keeping.

Rabbit meat is highly nutritious and can contribute to healthy diets, while the sale of rabbits generates income that supports school programs and student welfare. Rabbit droppings are also used as organic manure in the school's crop farming activities, helping to improve soil fertility and promote sustainable agriculture.

Through rabbit farming, students gain hands-on experience that can equip them with entrepreneurial skills and opportunities for self-employment in the future.

Our dedicated rabbit farming team ensures the health and productivity of our rabbits:

• Mr. Alfred Waindi – Rabbit Farm Manager.
• Mrs. Dorothy Atanga' – Breeding & Health Specialist.
• Mr. Kennedy Okello – Feeding & Nutrition.

Our rabbit farming unit follows a structured daily routine:

• 6:00 AM – Morning inspection of rabbits
• 7:00 AM – Morning feeding and watering
• 8:00 AM – Cleaning and sanitizing cages
• 9:00 AM – Health checks and observation
• 10:00 AM – Record keeping and monitoring
• 2:00 PM – Students practical training session
• 4:00 PM – Evening feeding
• 5:00 PM – Evening inspection and planning

• Established a functional rabbit unit with 20+ rabbits
• Maintaining 2 productive rabbit breeds
• Three successful litters per year
• Rabbit meat provided to school kitchen
• Surplus rabbits sold to the community
• Manure used to fertilize crop farm
• Trained over 30 students in rabbit management

The rabbit farming project at Kuja School was established to provide a sustainable source of nutritious meat while offering practical livestock management training for our learners. The project started with a small number of rabbits and has grown into a productive venture.
