NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Promoting Inclusion and Recognition

📋 About National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD)

The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has been an important government partner in advancing the rights, welfare, and inclusion of learners with disabilities at Kuja Comprehensive School for the Deaf. As the national body mandated to safeguard the interests of persons with disabilities, NCPWD works to ensure that learners with hearing impairment are recognized, protected, and empowered to access equal opportunities in education and society.

One of the Council's most significant contributions to our learners has been the facilitation and issuance of Disability Registration Certificates. These certificates provide official recognition of a learner's disability and serve as an important gateway to government services, educational support programmes, scholarships, bursaries, healthcare benefits, and other opportunities specifically designed for persons with disabilities. The certification process also enables learners and their families to enjoy the rights and protections provided under Kenyan law.

Beyond certificate issuance, NCPWD continues to champion disability awareness, advocate for inclusive policies, and collaborate with institutions to promote accessibility and equal participation for persons with disabilities. Its work contributes to creating a society where learners with hearing impairment are valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully in education, employment, and community life without discrimination.

The Board of Management, staff, parents, and learners of Kuja Comprehensive School for the Deaf sincerely appreciate the National Council for Persons with Disabilities for its continued support and commitment to improving the lives of learners with disabilities. We look forward to strengthening our partnership, particularly in expanding access to disability registration, assistive services, empowerment programmes, and advocacy initiatives that will enable every learner to realize their full potential and enjoy equal opportunities in society.
